Bike Week Daytona Beach and Accommodations

ABATE of FloridaIf you haven’t already made hotel reservations for Bike Week, it’s pretty much too late for anywhere in the thick of things. During Bike Week hotel rates skyrocket to an average that rises above $250 per night. Today’s motorcycle owners come from all walks of life. While Harley Davidson has made a name for itself by marketing a bike at a high price, it keeps many of the average Joe’s out of their showrooms. The same thing is happening to Bike Week where unless you make serious money, you either can’t afford to make the trip and stay in a decent hotel or you stay in a hotel that is 50 miles away.

I’m an average guy…. sorta. A couple years ago we decided to go to Bike Week and started the homework for a place to stay. The best price closest to Daytona Beach was just north of Orlando for about $140 per night. It made for a nice ride except for being stuck in traffic for over two hours due to an accident on I-4. There is definitely a need for more affordable accommodations in the area.
But don’t distress too much. There are options. Join ABATE and you can stay at their campgrounds for as little as $15 per night. Go to the Cabbage Patch Lot Next Door and you can camp for their going rate, which is always less than any hotel you can find in the area. Those are just two of the deals you can find to ease the cost of attending a great motorcycle event.

By the way, we recently joined the blog group at Technorati.
